Lens Experiment

Blurred Mirror Image

Using Photoshop I  decided to test out my skills by merging photographs together. I got this idea from Duane Michals with his use of blurred image through a mirror. I also liked the idea of photoshopping my images together to make it show person's movement through the mirror.

When I first tried making these photos I noticed that I didn't like the whole photograph was blurry and that annoyed me the most about, in these images. So after a while I started editing the photo the reflection would be the main focus.

After awhile I started to use the easer tool and erase part of the photographs I wanted to keep clear, like with this one I made it, so the camera was a main focus in the photograph. This image would have to be my favourite out them all.

Lens Experiments

Panorama Image Experiment

Using a camera I went outside with a partner and took photographs of myself, then using photoshop I then started to place them together, as you can see this isn't a really good panorama in my point of view mainly because the images changed to much by the different angles being used. I think next time I will have a camera on a tripod so that the image was at the same level and they all match.

Duane Michals

Title: Dr Heisenbergs's magic mirror of uncertainty
Media: Gelatin Silver Prints and Ink
Size: 32.7cmx39.1 cm
Year: 1998

In these photographs I found it interesting how Duane Michals used a mirror to blur the face of the woman staring into the mirror. For my works I am very interested in blurring photographs through mirrors, I'm not entirely sure how I will be able to blur an image so I might use photoshop create blurred image in the mirror.

Lens Experiment

Portraits

This experiment was inspired by Ken O'hara based on his work 'One' which are close up of faces self portraits. Using a camera and a lamp, I took close ups of my models face with the lamp as the only light source, angling the lamp so half of the light hitting the face. I liked how the light hit the face perfectly, but what I didn't like was how the face wasn't perfectly in the picture at times, this is mainly my fault as since I didn't have a tri-pod at the time so the photograph is slightly blurry.

Shutter Speed Experiment

Using a camera and a mirror I started taking photographs both in black and white and colour, using a tripod I set the camera on a low shutter speed. After studying about Francesca Woodman and her use of low shutter speed, I started taking pictures, I would make quick movements to create a blurry image. Unfortunately it was mainly my hair that was blurred in my first few photos, but after a while my body started to slowly blur as well, at times I would tried moving the camera to make the photograph more blurry which worked but the whole image ended up blurry, which I did not like. Looking at my images now I don't exactly like my photographs are in colour, so for my other images I might take photos all in black and white. And I will probably still use mirrors for my final photograph.

Mesian Mui

When searching for a artist on IllustrationMundo.com, I came across Mesian Mui. I was fascinated with her art work, mainly because it's based on anime which is one of my main interests when it comes to art. I think what interested me the most with these drawings were the use of line to create texture especially in the hair as it makes the character in the picture stand out a bit more.

Photograghy

Photography is a way in which an individual can express themselves, thoughts, feelings and interests.
Photography is used in many ways to capture things that are interesting to the photographer.
Photography is a good way to document things, e.g memories, events etc.
Photography is one of the more superior forms of art.

RRAW: 2 Blogs of Interest

http://www.allegator.org/blog/

With Allegator.org, I found this blog through tumblr when I saw one of her paintings of Bill Kaulitz, who is the lead singer of the band Tokio Hotel. I found this blog really interesting because not only did she make paintings but also drawings. I think the main reason I liked this blog was because it fan art of one of my favourite band.

http://danitaart.blogspot.co.nz/

With Danita art I found this site really interesting, mainly because of how talented the artist is when making her hand crafted dolls. I think the way she shows her experiments and plans on her dolls is what makes it more formal.

RRAW: Story of Someone Who Influenced Me

I've known this amazing woman for as long as I could remember as I can remember, mainly because she's my grandmother who helped raise all of us grandchildren. Ever since I was a child she was always there for me, supporting me, helping me and preparing me for the future. To be honest my nanny has always been there for her family, no matter how big great the obstacles are, family always came first, even when she would insult us, we all knew it was her way of expressing her love to us. Through out the years spending time with her, she has helped me through my darker days in the past and when it came to growing into a mature young adult prepared for the real world and the problems I may face in the future. This woman may come across as a hard head but deep down she is one of the most wonderful person I have ever known, I remember one thing she told me when I was younger, "don't expect everything to just happen, make it happen", thanks to that message I am doing things I enjoy especially with my passion for art.
